Cutlery Restoration

Our cutlery restorer is Mike McDonald, a Sheffielder with over 40 years experience in the cutlery industry. He is self employed and can carry out a range of restoration work – replacement of knife handles, replating of silver plated cutlery, cleaning and re-sharpening of knives and cutlery generally. If you have items for restoration click here and send details. We will get back to you with further information

Restoration and repair of silver and silver plated items

Our silversmiths are Perry Glossop and Co, run by Sheffielders Peter Perry and his son Chris. Peter learned his trade at James Dixon and Sons, one of Sheffield’s greatest and the manufacturer of the early Christopher Dresser designs. There is very little that Peter and Chris can’t do to revive teapots, trays, salvers salt cellars etc. We have taken on commissions from all over the country and felt it was time to give this service wider publicity. If you have silver or silver plated items for restoration or repair click here to send details. We will get back to you with further information.

Hand and Machine engraving

Husband and wife team Malcolm and Vi Marsden carry out nearly all of the engraving on behalf of the Famous Sheffield Shop. We are now geared up to offer this service more widely, so not only can you buy your goods on line, we will engrave them to your instructions as well! Malc and Vi are Sheffielders and Malc was one of the last people to undergo a proper apprenticeship in hand engraving. He is very highly skilled and a fine artist. If you would like to know more about our engraving services click here to send your enquiry. We will get back to you with further information.

For bulk numbers of metal items such as key rings and other complementary gifts, laser etching offers a very cost effective and precise service. We can arrange laser etching from your own artwork which can be sent on a jpeg, Microsoft word, Microsoft Publisher or other commonly used system.
