Part one of the book tells the story of the traditional Sheffield trades from their early roots through to their dramatic demise in the late 20th Century.

Part two is a series of guided trails around the inner cities cutlery quarter and explores the remains of factories and workshops, telling the histories of the craftsman that worked there.

Part three presents a unique survey of Sheffield trades today. The exsiting manufacturers and independent craftsman who continue to uphold the traditional values of Sheffield craftsmanship.
